Usawa in Swahili means equality. The Usawa Literary Review (ULR) is a bi-annual English language journal dedicated to contemporary feminist literature. We publish poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, reviews and interviews that question hierarchies, hegemonies and naturalized biases by invoking feminism that is inclusive and intersectional, diverse and ongoing.
